HIT Acknowledges with Sadness the Passing of AFL-CIO President and HIT Trustee Richard Trumka
The AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust (HIT) is saddened beyond measure by the loss of our dear friend and leader, Richard Trumka, President of the AFL-CIO since 2009 and HIT Trustee since 1995.
“The HIT is in mourning as we reflect on Rich Trumka’s extraordinary contributions to improving the lives of working men and women. He was a giant.” said Chris Coleman, HIT Board of Trustees Chair.
“Working side by side with Rich on the HIT Board, I saw how much he loved and valued the life-changing impacts of its investments on working families. Each HIT-created construction job, on every HIT-funded housing unit, is a living piece of Richard Trumka’s legacy.” said Liz Shuler, AFL-CIO Acting President and Secretary-Treasurer.
“Our hearts go out to his family, to everyone at the AFL-CIO and in the labor movement,” said Chang Suh, HIT CEO, “The HIT benefited from Rich’s guidance for more than 25 years. We will honor his achievements by redoubling our commitment to our shared mission.”
