Kenneth Rigmaiden is General President of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT). Elected to the position in April 2013, he had previously served as the union’s Executive General Vice President since 2002. He began his career with the IUPAT in 1977, when he enrolled in an apprenticeship training program of Local Union 1288 in California. Mr. Rigmaiden held various positions in the local union, eventually being elected President. He led the amalgamation of several local unions in his region to form Local Union 12.
Mr. Rigmaiden serves as a Director of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists; trustee of the IUPAT International Pension Fund; board member of The Partnership for Working Families; Co-Chair of the Finishing Trades Institute; and Co-Secretary of the Labor Management Cooperation Initiative. He joined the HIT Board of Trustees in 2010.
He is a graduate of California State University in San Jose and holds a degree in labor studies from the George Meany Center/Antioch University.
