Richard Ravitch, Lieutenant Governor of the State of New York, is a member of the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust’s Board of Trustees and serves on the Board’s Executive Committee. Mr. Ravitch joined the HIT Board in 1991 and served as its Chairman until resigning from that position in 2009 after becoming Lieutenant Governor of New York.
Prior to his appointment as Lieutenant Governor, Mr. Ravitch was a partner in Ravitch Rice & Company LLC. From 1960 to 1977 his primary business affiliation was in the HRH Construction Corporation, where, as chairman, he created and supervised over 45,000 units of affordable housing in New York City and other urban areas. Mr. Ravitch's professional career has been a mixture of business and public service. He served as chairman of the New York State Urban Development Board and for four years chaired the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of the State of New York. He is a former principal owner and chairman of the Bowery Savings Bank of New York. He co-chaired the Millennial Housing Commission in 2000 – 2002.
